Accounts Payable Manager

Job Description:

Accounts Payable Manager | 6-Month Contract | Derby City Centre | Fully Onsite | £35,000 - £38,000

Astute Recruitment are proud to be partnering with a global organisation based in Derby City Centre, seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager on a 6-month contract.

The Role:

You will lead and manage the Accounts Payable function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, reconciliations, and payment runs. This is a hands-on management role where you will oversee a small team of AP professionals, provide guidance and training, and drive efficiency improvements within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day AP operations, including processing invoices, 3-way matching, and resolving queries
• Maintain strong relationships with vendors, ensuring timely resolution of disputes or payment issues
• Prepare and review AP reports, aging schedules, and cash flow projections
• Lead monthly creditor reconciliations and support month-end and year-end close processes
• Develop and implement AP policies, procedures, and best practices to improve accuracy and efficiency
• Oversee compliance with company policies, tax regulations, and statutory requirements, including VAT and RCT filings
• Assist with audits and provide documentation and support as required
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements within the AP function

Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Accounts Payable, with supervisory or team management experience
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, VAT, and RCT compliance
• Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP systems
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Proven experience in process improvement and implementing best practices
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and strong communication skills
