Job Description:

Mechanical Assembly Operative / Workshop Technician

Location: Derby
Rate: £15.69p/h PAYE
Contract: 3 Month Rolling
Shift: Monday to Friday – 08:00 - 4:30

We’re looking for a Mechanical Assembly Operative to join a busy engineering workshop supporting the build of bespoke conveyor and product handling systems, primarily used within food manufacturing environments.

This is a hands-on role working as part of a skilled workshop team, preparing and assembling components to a high standard in line with engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

• De-burr and finish machined components
• Carry out basic drilling, tapping, and part preparation
• Assemble mechanical components and sub-assemblies
• Work from engineering drawings and instructions
• Maintain quality standards across all work

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a mechanical assembly or workshop environment
• Strong de-burring and component finishing skills
• Confident using hand and power tools
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Experience with drilling or basic machining operations
• Good attention to detail and quality-focused approach
