Assistant Accountant
Location: Coventry
Salary: £30,000 - £33,000
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Our client, a growing and dynamic business, is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and ambitious individual who enjoys variety in their role and wants to contribute to the smooth running of financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts, update variances and manage daily banking reconciliations.
Post journals including payroll, recharges, and other related entries.
Support month-end close, including accruals, prepayments, variances and overhead management (IT, Procurement, HR).
Complete working capital and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accounts are accurate and up to date.
Reconcile PAYE and NIC, process payments, and prepare VAT returns.
Assist with year-end audit preparation and statutory reporting requirements, including Office for National Statistics returns.
Manage company insurances and undertake general financial accounting tasks.
Provide support with ad hoc duties across the finance function as required.
Skills & Requirements:
Part-qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/AAT) or qualified by experience.
Strong understanding of financial processes, with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Confident communicator with a proactive approach to problem solving.
Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software preferred.
