Assistant Engineer (Development Approvals) – Temporary

Location: Leicestershire 

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Engineer to join a busy Development Approvals team. This temporary role focuses on the technical review of Section 38 and Section 278 highway submissions to ensure designs meet national and local standards.

You will:

• Assess developer designs for adoption and compliance with DMRB, Manual for Streets, and other highway standards
• Liaise with developers, consultants, and internal teams to resolve design issues
• Support site inspections and monitor construction against approved plans
• Work independently and manage multiple applications efficiently

The ideal candidate will have:

• Hands-on experience with S38/S278 applications and development approvals
• Strong knowledge of highway design, adoption processes, and construction standards
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver practical technical advice

Qualifications such as HNC, HND, or a degree in Civil Engineering are desirable, but relevant experience in development approvals is key.
