Assistant Geologist
Location: Nottingham
Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience) + benefits

An excellent opportunity has become available for an Assistant Geologist to join a well-established ground investigation and geotechnical consultancy in Nottingham. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or someone with up to a couple of years of experience looking to build a career within the ground investigation sector.

You will join a supportive team of geologists and geotechnical engineers working on a wide range of projects across the UK, including infrastructure, residential, commercial and environmental developments.

The Role

As an Assistant Geologist, you will be involved in both site and office-based work, supporting the delivery of ground investigation projects from initial site works through to reporting.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with site investigations including boreholes, trial pits and window sampling
• Soil and rock logging in accordance with British Standards
• Collecting and managing soil and groundwater samples
• Assisting with gas and groundwater monitoring
• Liaising with drilling contractors and site teams
• Assisting with the preparation of factual ground investigation reports
• Supporting senior staff with data collection and interpretation

Requirements

• Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geoscience or a related subject
• Strong interest in ground investigation and geotechnical engineering
• Full UK driving licence
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
