Assistant Plant Manager - Anaerobic Digestion

Alecto Recruitment is currently recruiting for experienced Operators or professionals in similar roles who are ready to take the next step into an Assistant Plant Manager position. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and respected company within the Anaerobic Digestion sector, offering career progression and long-term stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage spare parts and equipment inventory, including sourcing, ordering, and coordinating delivery schedules with international couriers and customs to minimise plant downtime.
- Anticipate peak operational periods and organise the leasing and hiring of machinery and equipment from approved suppliers.
- Plan and oversee routine and reactive maintenance activities, creating in-house service schedules and liaising with external contractors as required.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota, responding to breakdowns and implementing short-term solutions where parts or equipment are unavailable.
- Monitor plant performance and make operational adjustments, including remote monitoring and optimisation using SCADA systems.
- Conduct CO₂ quality testing using Carboscan and sensory laboratories, including testing samples from external customer sites.
- Carry out daily digestate sampling and biological monitoring, adjusting feedstock inputs where necessary to maintain plant health.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience working in the Anaerobic digestion sector or similar process-led operations.
- SCADA systems knowledge (advantageous), strong IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Certifications: NEBOSH, environmental management, WAMITAB COTC.
- CO2 & Gas to Grid experience is advantageous
- Confined Space Training is an advantage.
