We are working with a
fast-growing energy consultancy client to recruit an experienced
Business Development Manager to support the next phase of their commercial growth.
This is an excellent opportunity for a driven, consultative sales professional to take ownership of winning and developing high-value business customers, while being supported by an established internal operations and administration team.
The Role As Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in driving new business acquisition while also managing and developing a portfolio of existing clients. You'll be responsible for identifying opportunities, closing deals, and building long-term relationships within the commercial energy and utilities space.
You'll have full ownership of your accounts and sales pipeline, with strong internal support handling onboarding, reporting, and day-to-day administration—allowing you to focus on growth, relationship management, and revenue generation.
Key Responsibilities New Business Development
- Proactively identify, target, and secure new business customers
- Build and manage a structured sales pipeline through outreach, networking, and referrals
- Lead consultative sales conversations, offering tailored energy and utility solutions
- Negotiate and close new business opportunities
Account Management - Manage and grow a portfolio of existing clients, focusing on retention and upsell opportunities
- Act as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor
- Deliver regular client reviews and reporting, demonstrating value through savings and efficiency
Commercial & Operational Oversight - Conduct Meter Operator and kVA reviews for new clients
- Oversee Data Collector appointments and ensure accurate data integration
- Collaborate with internal admin teams to ensure smooth onboarding, reporting, invoice validation, and supplier queries
- Maintain accurate CRM records and ensure compliance with quality standards
About You This role would suit someone who:
- Has proven experience in energy sales or business development
- Is confident in generating new business and managing a personal sales pipeline
- Has experience managing medium to large commercial energy portfolios
- Demonstrates strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Is commercially astute, organised, and self-motivated
- Thrives in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
- Has strong IT and CRM skills
- Holds a full UK driving licence and is comfortable with client visits
