We are working on behalf of a well-established construction contractor based in Leicester who is looking to appoint an experienced Materials & Plant Hire Buyer to join their commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proven buyer with strong supplier relationships and a background in construction procurement to play a key role in supporting project delivery across the Midlands.

The Role:

You will be responsible for the procurement of materials and plant hire across multiple projects, ensuring best value, reliability, and programme support. Duties will include:

• Managing supplier relationships and negotiating competitive rates

• Procuring materials and plant hire in line with project requirements

• Carrying out drawing take-offs where required

• Supporting commercial and operational teams with procurement strategy

• Monitoring market trends and supply chain performance

• Ensuring compliance with company and project procurement procedures

About You:

• Proven experience as a Materials Buyer / Plant Hire Buyer within construction

• Strong supplier network across the Midlands

• Confident completing drawing take-offs

• Commercially astute with excellent negotiation skills

• Proactive, reliable, and able to work to tight deadlines

Package:

• Salary in the region of £40,000+, depending on experience
