Catering Manager - Primary School
Salary: £24,030 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Working weeks: 38 weeks per year (term time)

Catering Manager - About the role
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Catering Manager to lead the catering service within a busy primary school. This is a hands-on role, where you will not only manage the kitchen and team but also actively participate in the preparation and cooking of fresh, nutritious meals each day.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality food that supports pupils’ health and wellbeing while ensuring smooth kitchen operations and compliance with all food safety standards.

Catering Manager - Key responsibilities

• Lead and organise day-to-day kitchen operations

• Take a hands-on approach to cooking, food preparation, and service

• Plan and prepare fresh, nutritious meals in line with school food standards

• Supervise, motivate, and support catering staff

• Ensure food hygiene, allergen management, and health & safety compliance

• Manage ordering, stock control, and budget responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and efficiency

• Engage positively with pupils and staff and promote healthy eating initiatives

Catering Manager - About you

• Experience in a catering or kitchen management role

• A passion for cooking and delivering quality meals from fresh ingredients

• Comfortable working in a hands-on capacity alongside the team

• Strong leadership and organisational skills

• Knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety regulations

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced school environment

• Food hygiene qualification (desirable)
