Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Leicester
Contract: Permanent, term-time only, part time 32.5 hours per week
Salary: Scale 4, £26403 - £28,142 pro rata (£19,913 - £21,225 actual per annum)

The Cover Supervisor is responsible for supervising students during lessons when a teacher is absent. The role ensures continuity of learning by maintaining a focused classroom environment and supporting students to complete the work that has been set.
The postholder plays an important role in maintaining high expectations for behaviour and engagement, ensuring students remain safe, respectful and productive throughout the school day. When cover supervision is not required, the role also involves providing additional support to students and departments to assist with learning activities and organisational tasks.

• Supervise classes during the short-term absence of a teacher, ensuring that students remain on task with the work provided.
• Maintain a positive and orderly learning environment that supports effective classroom behaviour.
• Provide guidance to students to help them understand and complete the work set by teaching staff.
• Record lesson attendance accurately in accordance with organisational procedures.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and respond appropriately to any immediate welfare concerns.
• Supervise students during arrival to and departure from the site where required.
• Undertake supervision duties during break or lunchtime as part of a rota.
• Provide in-class support for students when cover supervision is not required, working with individuals or small groups where appropriate.
• Assist departments with classroom preparation, displays, administrative tasks or other activities that support teaching and learning.

Essential

• Good organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage groups of students confidently and maintain positive behaviour.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently when supervising classes.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
• Flexible and proactive approach to supporting learning and organisational needs.

Desirable

• Previous experience working with young people in an educational or youth setting.
• Understanding of classroom practices and behaviour management strategies.
