Cleaning Hygiene Manager

Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is looking for a hands-on Cleaning Hygiene Manager to lead a team of six within a busy food manufacturing facility.
This is a physically demanding role within a hot, kitchen-style environment, and requires a manager who is comfortable stepping in to support the team during clean-downs when needed.
Job Description
The position involves managing cleaning standards across production equipment post-bake, ensuring hygiene compliance at all times, and maintaining readiness for frequent internal and external audits.
In addition to day-to-day operational oversight, you will also be responsible for recruitment, onboarding, appraisals and ongoing staff development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support and motivate a hygiene team of six across the facility.
- Oversee resourcing, recruitment, performance management and training schedules.
- Ensure all cleaning is carried out to the highest standards of hygiene and food safety.
- Participate in a high volume of audits from both internal parties and supermarket customers.
- Manage compliance with all hygiene-related legislative, certification and customer requirements.
- Provide hands-on operational support when required, particularly during peak periods or complex cleans.
- Deliver H&S inductions for new starters and ensure all documentation and records are fully up to date.
- Act as a key member of the internal audit team and support delivery of corrective / preventative actions.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- Proven experience managing teams in a demanding operational environment.
- Background in food production or hygiene management is highly desirable (but not essential if leadership and auditing exposure is strong).
- Experience of leading or participating in audits is essential.
- Comfortable working in an intensive, hot environment and prepared to assist the team hands-on where required.
- Experience with appraisals, coaching, recruitment and one-to-one development conversations.
- Strong understanding of compliance, H&S and quality control in a regulated environment.
