CNC Team Leader Location: Leicester
Salary: Up to £45,000 depending on experience
Hours: Monday – Thursday, 7:00am to 4:00pm, Friday finish at 1:00pm

About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled CNC professional to take on a
Team Leader role within a busy machining department. This is a
hands-on position where you’ll oversee daily CNC operations, support and develop team members, and ensure productivity, quality, and safety standards are consistently achieved.
This role is well suited to someone with existing leadership experience or a highly skilled CNC machinist/programmer who is ready to take the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the setup, programming, and efficient running of CNC machinery, ensuring jobs are completed accurately and to specification.
- Monitor and manage tooling stock and condition, arranging maintenance or replacements as required.
- Lead, support, and appraise CNC operators/programmers, setting clear targets and driving continuous improvement.
- Interpret engineering drawings and CAD models, planning machining operations to achieve tight tolerances (±0.2mm).
- Troubleshoot machining issues and optimise machine performance for maximum efficiency.
- Carry out inspections using precision measuring equipment including micrometres, callipers, gauges, and jigs.
- Review and improve systems, workflows, and processes within the CNC department.
- Promote and enforce safe working practices in line with company policies and H&S regulations.
- Collaborate with planning and production teams to meet overall business objectives.
Skills & Experience
- Strong background in CNC machining with proven programming experience.
- Leadership or supervisory experience is desirable – however, skilled machinists/programmers seeking career progression will also be considered.
- Confident in interpreting technical drawings and specifications, including GD&T.
- Sound understanding of tooling requirements, maintenance principles, and CNC machinery performance.
- Proficient in using inspection tools and working to precise tolerances.
- Proactive, hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Safety-conscious, with good knowledge of H&S best practices.
