Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent role

Salary: £15-£18ph depending on experience.  Hourly pay, time and a half overtime

About the Role

AJ&U Recruitment are looking for a skilled and motivated CNC Machinist to join our clients growing toolmaking team in Leicester . The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating CNC machines to produce high-quality components to exact specifications. This role involves interpreting 3D models and technical drawings, setting up and programming machines, and ensuring consistent production standards in a small family business.

Key Responsibilities as a CNC Machinist

• Set up and operate CNC milling, turning, or grinding machines

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models
• Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and machine parameters for each job
• Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to ensure accuracy and efficiency
• Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)
• Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues as needed
• Maintain accurate production records and quality documentation
• Collaborate with engineers and quality control teams to resolve manufacturing challenges
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area

Requirements for the CNC Machinist

• Proven experience as a CNC Machinist in a manufacturing or engineering environment
• Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machines, ideally Hurco’s
• Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and tolerances
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specification
• Familiarity with G-code and CAM software (e.g., NCG)
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Enthusiastic and willingness to embrace change and innovation
• Experience working on Hurco’s an advantage, but training can be arranged.
• Experience with Visi CAD also an advantage but not essential
