About the Opportunity

Rack Native are supporting National Data Works in the search for a permanent Data Cabling Engineer to join their growing delivery team based out of Leicester.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer looking for long-term stability, progression, and the chance to work alongside a Senior Engineer on a wide range of projects across the UK.

You’ll be joining a business delivering structured cabling solutions across commercial environments, data centres, industrial sites, and retail estates, with consistent project flow and strong technical leadership.

Role Overview

As a Data Cabling Engineer, you will support the installation, termination, and testing of structured cabling systems. Working alongside a Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering projects to a high standard across multiple environments.

This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone confident on the tools and looking to further develop within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities
Installation of structured cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A)

Fibre optic installation, termination, and testing (desirable)

Installation of containment systems (tray, basket, trunking, conduit)

Dressing and terminating cables into cabinets and patch panels

Labelling and documentation in line with project specifications

Supporting testing using Fluke (or similar) testers

Working to drawings, schematics, and site plans

Assisting the Senior Engineer with project delivery and site coordination

Ensuring all work is completed in line with H&S and industry standards
 

Requirements
Proven experience in structured cabling installations

Strong knowledge of copper cabling systems (Cat5e / Cat6 / Cat6A)

Experience working on commercial or industrial sites

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Full UK driving licence (essential)

Willingness to travel nationwide and stay away when required
 

Desirable Certifications / Experience

ECS Card (Network Infrastructure / Datacomms preferred)

CNCI or equivalent industry certification

Fibre optic experience (splicing, testing, termination)

IPAF / PASMA

Experience working in data centre environments

Familiarity with Fluke DSX or similar testing equipment
