The Opportunity

Our client, a well-established contractor delivering retrofit and maintenance projects within the education sector, is seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to oversee out-of-hours works across live school environments.

This is a contract opportunity offering consistent project-based work, competitive shift rates, and the chance to operate in a leadership capacity on essential upgrade and maintenance schemes. The successful Electrical Supervisor will take full responsibility for site operations during OOH shifts, acting as the key client-facing representative.

The Role

The Electrical Supervisor will oversee electrical retrofit and maintenance works within school buildings, including plant room upgrades, heating system improvements, PPMs, and reactive tasks.

Working predominantly outside of school hours, you will manage teams of engineers on-site while ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to programme.

(Flexibility on Days/Hours available – open to discussion)

The Electrical Supervisor will operate as the on-site lead, effectively acting as the Project Manager during shifts. A visiting PM will attend site weekly or fortnightly, but day-to-day decision-making and client liaison will sit with you.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervising electrical engineers during retrofit and maintenance works

• Managing plant room upgrades and heating system repairs

• Overseeing PPM and reactive maintenance tasks

• Acting as the primary client-facing representative on site

• Making independent decisions to resolve site or client issues

• Ensuring works comply with safety regulations and project specifications

• Coordinating labour, materials, and workflow during OOH shifts

• Reporting progress and issues to the visiting Project Manager

• Maintaining professional standards within live education environments

The ideal Electrical Supervisor will be proactive, approachable, and confident managing both engineers and client expectations.

Requirements

• Proven experience working as an Electrical Supervisor within commercial or education environments

• Strong background in retrofit, maintenance, and plant room works

• Experience supervising engineers on PPM and reactive maintenance contracts

• Enhanced DBS (essential)

• Strong client-facing and communication skills

• Ability to make independent decisions and solve problems under pressure

• Confident managing teams during out-of-hours shifts

• Self-employed / contracting availability
