An established and growing organisation is looking for an Engineering & Fleet Workshop Manager to lead their busy maintenance function. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with proven experience in fleet and engineering management who is ready to take ownership of a varied, fast-paced operation.
The Role
The Engineering & Fleet Workshop Manager will oversee a multi-skilled team including technicians, engineers, and support staff, ensuring that all maintenance activity is delivered to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and efficiency.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing engineering and fleet operations across vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
- Ensuring compliance with transport legislation, LOLER, PUWER, COSHH, H&S, and internal ISO systems.
- Leading, coaching, and developing the engineering team to achieve performance goals.
- Overseeing stock control, KPI reporting, and departmental budgets.
- Driving continuous improvement through root cause analysis and defect trend identification.
- Collaborating with operational and HSEQ teams to maintain safe, efficient, and legally compliant practices.
- Building strong relationships with equipment manufacturers and key suppliers.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- Experience running a busy fleet workshop or similar engineering environment.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-moving maintenance setting.
- Competence in using IT systems, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and maintenance software.
