European Road Freight Forwarder

Job Description:

Due to continued success, our client, a global logistics specialist with an excellent reputation within the industry, is currently recruiting for an experienced European Road Freight Forwarder to join their team on the outskirts of Leicester.

Key Responsibilities:

• Planning, organising, directing, and helping to run day-to-day European road freight operations
• Increasing productivity while minimising unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
• Negotiating rates with customers, as well as transportation costs with suppliers
• Maintaining and improving working relationships with both customers and suppliers
• Driving continuous improvement and optimisation of all processes
• Monitoring transport rates and markets, and managing shipments from start to finish
• Subcontracting haulage requirements and managing transportation bookings and quotations

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

• Proven experience working as a European Road Freight Forwarder, or similar experience within the industry
• Strong industry knowledge and technical expertise
• Good understanding of rates, customers, and suppliers within the European road freight sector
• Outstanding customer service skills, with a professional approach to both suppliers and customers
• Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
• An additional European language would be advantageous; however, it is not essential
