
Female Support Worker – Learning Disabilities & Autism (Derby Area)
Location: Derby (DE24)
Hours: Flexible shifts between 07:00–22:00 + optional sleep-ins
Salary: £12.30 per hour (Point 1)

About the Role
We are recruiting Female Support Workers to provide person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs within a supported living environment.
Your role will focus on promoting independence, wellbeing and community inclusion. You will support individuals to live fulfilling, meaningful lives and develop their skills, confidence, and daily living abilities.
This involves a blend of practical, emotional and personal care support, including working with individuals who may present complex behaviours.
(Responsibilities reflect the duties listed on pp.2–4, including independence, dignity, personal care, community engagement, and challenging behaviour support.)
Key Responsibilities
Build warm, trusting and professional relationships
Promote independence, daily living skills, emotional wellbeing and personal growth
Support with personal care, medication administration and domestic tasks
Encourage participation in social, leisure and community activities
Work within person-centred plans and adapt support to changing needs
Support individuals who may present challenging behaviours using appropriate strategies
Maintain accurate records and contribute to support planning and reviews
Safeguard service users and follow all health & safety requirements
Work confidently during lone-working shifts
Provide support with mobility needs, including hoists and wheelchairs where required
Shifts Available
07:00–14:30
14:30–22:00
07:00–15:00
15:00–22:00
Sleep-in shifts may also be required
Shifts run 7 days a week and require flexibility.
Person Specification
We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate:

Excellent communication and listening skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a consistent team
Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure
Experience supporting people with learning disabilities, autism or complex needs (desirable)
Ability to support with personal care and mobility where needed
Reliable, flexible, and committed to delivering high-quality support
Requirements
Female applicants only (occupational requirement)
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including some weekends
Willingness to complete mandatory training
Experience with complex behaviours is beneficial
