Are you a caring, reliable, and motivated Female Waking Night Residential Support Worker looking for a fulfilling new role in Market Harborough? We’re recruiting for a Waking Night Residential Support Worker to join a compassionate, experienced team at a Family Assessment Centre supporting vulnerable families and children overnight.
As a Waking Night Residential Support Worker, you’ll provide emotional support, practical assistance, and ensure safety through the night - helping families overcome challenges such as domestic abuse, mental health issues, learning difficulties, and trauma.
🏠 About the Service
This Family Assessment Centre offers residential support to parents and children facing complex needs. Families live in self-contained flats and are supported by staff who guide, observe, and assess parenting capacity in a safe, structured setting.
We work in partnership with Leicestershire County Council to provide consistent, high-quality residential childcare and family support.
Due to the sensitive nature of this service, this post is open to female applicants only (a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010).
🔑 Main Responsibilities of a Female Waking Night Residential Support Worker
Provide overnight care and supervision to families and children within a residential setting.
Create a safe, calm, and nurturing environment during waking night shifts.
Support parents in maintaining consistent routines and healthy boundaries.
Record and report observations accurately using digital systems.
Carry out light domestic duties to maintain a clean and homely space.
Follow safeguarding procedures and escalate concerns appropriately.
Collaborate with colleagues, families, and professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
👩🏫 What We’re Looking For
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
Previous experience as a Waking Night Residential Support Worker, Residential Support Worker, or similar.
Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and trauma-informed care.
Excellent communication and empathy skills.
Flexibility to work nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Salary: £26,142.40 - £29,463.72 per annum
Night Shift Premium Allowance: paid at one-third of hourly rate
