
Service Engineer (Field-Based)
UK (North & Midlands Region)
Remote / Field-Based with Travel
Our client is a specialist provider of laboratory testing equipment, supporting customers across the rubber and materials sectors. They are seeking a skilled and self-motivated Service Engineer to join their field-based engineering team.
This is a remote role offering a high level of autonomy, where you will travel directly to customer sites across the UK and occasionally Europe, carrying out servicing, calibration and repair work on specialist equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Service, maintain and repair laboratory testing equipment at customer sites
Calibrate electro-mechanical and electronic instruments to required standards
Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs
Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections
Complete detailed service reports and calibration documentation
Provide technical support and advice to customers on-site
Identify opportunities for upgrades, servicing solutions or replacement equipment
Support commercial activity by highlighting potential sales opportunities during visits
Requirements
Electro-mechanical engineering background
Proven experience servicing laboratory or industrial equipment
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently in a field-based role
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel preferred)
Full UK driving licence
Valid passport and willingness to travel internationally
Desirable Experience
Experience with materials or hardness testing equipment
Knowledge of ISO or UKAS calibration standards
Calibration experience (e.g. ovens, presses, balances)
Additional language skills (e.g. French) would be advantageous
