Financial Controller – Professional Services – Derby – to £70,000 + Bens

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast growing professional services business in Derby as Financial Controller, playing a key role in shaping financial integrity, driving performance, and supporting strategic decision-making at board level.

The Role:
As Financial Controller, you’ll be pivotal in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting and providing insights that influence business performance. Working closely with the Finance Director and senior leadership team, you’ll lead core finance processes and help deliver the company’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support the Finance Director with the production of monthly board packs and management information.
• Ensure the integrity of financial data and compliance with accounting standards.
• Monitor and report on in-month KPI performance across the business.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support operational and strategic decisions.
• Manage cash flow forecasting and optimise working capital.
• Partner with managers across the business to drive revenue and manage cash collection targets.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts.
• Support year-end statutory accounts and audit processes.
• Develop and mentor the finance team across accounting, BI, and client monies.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional excellence.

About You:
We’re looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with proven experience in a senior finance role—someone who’s commercially astute, hands-on, and confident influencing at all levels of the business.

You’ll bring:
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and regulatory understanding.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive approach and the ability to challenge and add value.
• A track record of supporting business growth and financial performance.

Desirable Experience:
• Background in professional services or managing client monies.
• Exposure to private equity reporting and governance.
