Financial Controller

Job Description:

An established and expanding business based in Burton-on-Trent is seeking a Financial Controller to lead its finance function and play a pivotal role in driving continued growth and efficiency.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with solid post-qualification experience to step into a broad, influential position within a collaborative, forward-thinking team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of financial management including accounting operations, reporting and controls.

• Lead and develop a small finance team, ensuring effective performance and growth.

• Manage monthly and annual accounts, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow.

• Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and internal controls.

• Drive continuous improvement across systems and processes.

• Partner with senior leadership to provide insight and recommendations for business performance.

Requirements:

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualified experience.

• Previous experience as a Financial Controller or in a senior finance role.

• Excellent technical knowledge, strong Excel skills, and experience with cloud-based accounting systems (AccountsIQ or similar).

• Proven team leadership and communication skills.

• A proactive, hands-on approach and commercial mindset.
