Financial Controller

Job Description:

Gleeson Recruitment Group delighted to be partnering with a private equity-backed eCommerce business in Derbyshire to recruit a Financial Controller. This is a pivotal appointment within a dynamic, fast-paced organisation experiencing sustained growth and investment.

The Opportunity

This is a broad and hands-on leadership role, ideally suited to a technically strong and commercially astute finance professional. Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will take ownership of the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, insightful reporting, and the delivery of key strategic projects - most notably the implementation of a new ERP system.

You will be a key business partner across the organisation, driving improvements in process, systems, and reporting to support continued scale-up and value creation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, providing mentoring and direction across the transactional, management accounting, and FP&A areas.
• Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, board reporting, and KPIs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Take ownership of budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management, working closely with the CFO and department heads.
• Lead the implementation of a new ERP system, ensuring integration across business functions and alignment with future growth plans.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory and technical accounting requirements, liaising with auditors and external advisors as needed.
• Drive continuous improvement in systems, processes, and internal controls to support scalability and operational efficiency.
• Partner with the senior leadership team to support strategic decision-making and commercial initiatives.

About You

We're seeking a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a strong grounding in both technical and commercial finance. Experience within a PE-backed, eCommerce, or fast-growing consumer-led business would be highly advantageous.

You'll be confident leading teams, comfortable working at pace, and excited by the opportunity to shape a finance function in a growth environment. ERP implementation experience is essential.
