Job Description:

My client is recruiting for a Financial & Management Accountant to join their law firm in Leicester, Leicestershire on a 9 month fixed term contract.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make an immediate impact through management accounting, reporting, and driving process improvements in a dynamic and evolving environment. The role offers broad exposure across the full finance function and the chance to develop your expertise within a high-performing firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Month-end and year-end financial close processes including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and reconciliations.
• Preparation of management accounts, P&L statements, cashflow forecasts and dashboards to support senior leadership decision-making.
• Work-in-progress (WIP) analysis and reviews with project or fee-earning teams to understand performance and profitability.
• Support the implementation of new financial systems and tools (e.g., AP automation, data dashboards) and lead continuous improvement initiatives within finance.
• VAT returns, audit preparation and acting as point of contact for external auditors.
• Oversee nominal and purchase ledgers, partner payments/drawings and payroll support functions.
• Provide financial insight and commentary to support business strategy, cost control and growth.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Manage and develop junior finance staff / assistants, providing coaching and development.

About You

• Qualified accountant or part-qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with solid experience in management accounting within a professional services or complex organisation.
• Proven ability to manage the full financial cycle, produce accurate and reliable reports and interpret financial information for non-finance stakeholders.
• Excellent IT skills (Excel advanced, ERP or finance systems, dashboard tools).
• Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail and ability to prioritise in a busy, multi-task environment.
• Experience of driving systems/process improvements and automations.
• Excellent communication and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across business functions.
