Fire Alarm Engineer
📍 Location: Field-Based (Various Sites)
💷 Salary: £35,000 – £43,000 per annum (Based on 40 hours/week)
🕒 Hours: Monday to Friday, with optional overtime and on-call rota
Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer to join a well-established and growing team. This role focuses on Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), system repairs, fault-finding, and installations across a range of life safety systems.
You’ll work across a variety of environments and sites, delivering high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service. Every day is different, offering variety and challenge.
Key Duties:
Service, maintain and install:
Fire alarm systems (BS5839-1 compliant)
Emergency lighting systems
Nurse call and access control systems
Diagnose faults and aim to complete first-time fixes
Complete detailed and accurate service reports
Maintain and inspect additional life safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and AOVs
Conduct regular stock checks and manage van inventory
Follow health & safety procedures and report any risks promptly
Requirements:
Experience with conventional and addressable fire alarm systems
FIA training or equivalent certification (BS5839-1 Fundamentals)
Strong understanding of BS5839 (Parts 1 and 6)
Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
Basic IT skills for completing digital reports
Flexible approach to working hours, including participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota
Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace
