General Foreman

Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for an experienced General Foreman to join a water treatment scheme in Nottingham. This role is working for a respected civil engineering contractor delivering works on behalf of a major main contractor. Experience within the water sector is essential.

General Foreman Role & Responsibilities:

• Supervising day-to-day site operations across civil works packages

• Managing direct labour and subcontractors

• Ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification

• Coordinating plant, materials, and workforce requirements

• Delivering daily briefings and toolbox talks

• Working closely with the Site Agent and Engineers to maintain programme targets

• Monitoring productivity and reporting progress to senior management

• Ensuring full compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards

• Maintaining accurate site records and supporting QA documentation

General Foreman Requirements:

• Proven experience as a General Foreman on water treatment or water infrastructure projects (essential)

• Strong civil engineering background (RC structures, drainage, pipework, concrete works)

• Experience working alongside main contractors

• SMSTS or SSSTS

• Valid CSCS card

• First Aid at Work (preferred)

• Strong leadership and organisational skills
