General Manager - Operations & Logistics

• Location: East Midlands
• Leadership Role | Operational & Commercial Responsibility
• Package - £75,000 - £100,000 Plus Bonus & Package
   

We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded General Manager to lead the performance and growth of one of our key business units.

This is a senior leadership role with full P&L responsibility, overseeing operational delivery across transport planning, warehousing, and customer service, while working closely with central support functions including finance, HR, compliance, and business development.

You will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, developing high-performing teams, and delivering strong commercial results.

The Role

As General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the business unit, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable operations.

You will lead the site team while collaborating with centrally managed functions to deliver strong operational, financial, and customer outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Full P&L accountability for the business unit including revenue growth, cost control, and profit improvement
• Leading transport planning and warehousing operations to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant services
• Managing and developing key customer relationships, ensuring exceptional service delivery
• Supporting new business growth through collaboration with the central Business Development team
• Ensuring compliance with Operator Licence requirements and transport regulations
• Driving a strong safety culture and proactive risk management across the operation
• Identifying opportunities to maximise value across the wider group
• Leading and developing teams to build a high-performance culture

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a strong operational leader with the ability to deliver both commercial and operational results. You will likely have experience in logistics, transport, warehousing, or a complex operational or manufacturing environments.

Key experience includes:

• Proven P&L leadership experience
• Strong operational leadership in a manufacturing, transport, logistics, or supply chain environment
• Experience managing customer relationships and service delivery
• Understanding of Operator Licence compliance and transport operations
• Strong people leadership and team development skills
• Ability to work effectively within a matrix structure alongside central support functions
