Roles and Responsibilities:

• Have regard for the need to safeguard pupils’ well-being following statutory provisions
• Lead and manage the Design Technology and Art faculty, inspiring staff and students to achieve excellence
• Develop and deliver an engaging, innovative curriculum that nurtures creativity, problem-solving and practical skills
• Drive high standards of teaching, learning and assessment across the department
• Monitor and evaluate the progress of students, ensuring strong outcomes and continuous improvement
• Oversee the development and maintenance of facilities, resources and equipment to support high-quality learning experiences
• Foster cross-curricular links and promote the role of Design Technology and Art across the wider school community
• Support and develop the professional growth of staff through coaching, mentoring and effective performance management

• Knowledgeable and confident, with a deep understanding of curriculum design, assessment and current educational developments within Design Technology and Art
• Innovative and visionary, with a passion for design, creativity and the arts
• An inspiring leader, capable of motivating others and leading by example
• A skilled communicator, able to build strong relationships with students, colleagues and external partners
• Organised and strategic, with the ability to plan effectively and manage competing priorities
• Committed to inclusion and excellence, ensuring every student is supported to achieve their full potential

Qualifications and Experience:

• A recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent).
• A degree in Design Technology, Art, or a related discipline
• A proven track record of successful teaching and leadership in Design Technology and/or Art at secondary level
• Read the DfE ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ (2025 document)

• Right to Work in the UK (No Limitations)
• Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service (Child/Child & Adult Workforce)
• Reference checks covering the last 2 years of employment or education
