Health and Safety Advisor

Job Description:

A well-established and growing manufacturing business is seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Advisor to lead and support health and safety initiatives across its operations. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about driving a positive safety culture.

 Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver health and safety training, including Toolbox Talks

• Create and review risk assessments, SSOWs, and specialist assessments (e.g. COSHH, DSE, manual handling, lone working, young/pregnant workers)

• Conduct site inspections and produce detailed reports

• Support incident investigations and root cause analysis

• Manage injury and illness cases through the incident management system

• Recommend and implement control measures and PPE standards

• Liaise with contractors and engineering teams to ensure safe working practices

• Assist with H&S Committee meetings, First Aid, Fire Marshal coordination

• Contribute to the review and development of H&S policies and procedures

 About You:

• NEBOSH General Certificate – Essential

• IOSH Membership – Essential

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Health & Safety advisory role – Essential

• Manufacturing or food production experience – Highly desirable

• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage all levels of staff

• Self-motivated, pragmatic, and solutions-focused

• Able to work independently while contributing to a wider team

• Comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery
