Health and Safety Assistant

• New position working alongside HR to support with H&S related tasks.

• Primarily administrative focused and supporting the shop floor team with low level risk assessments. 

• No formal H&S qualification is needed, although it would be an advantage.

We are looking for a Health & Safety Assistant to support day-to-day health and safety activities across the business. This role focuses on low-level H&S risks, shop-floor support, and health and safety administration.

You’ll spend time on the shop floor, working with operators and supervisors to help identify minor issues, improve housekeeping, and support safe working practices. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build experience in health and safety within a manufacturing environment.

Salary: c£28,000 to £30,000 as an initial guide. Private healthcare. 25 days holiday + banks. Working hours are Monday to Thursday, 8:00am – 4:45pm, Friday, 8:00am – 12:00pm.

The Health and Safety Assistant role will involve;

• Supporting the management of low-level health and safety risks on the shop floor

• Carrying out routine safety checks and workplace inspections

• Assisting with basic risk assessments and safe systems of work

• Supporting operators and supervisors with minor H&S queries and challenges

• Helping record accidents, incidents, and near misses

• Assisting with investigations and tracking follow-up actions

• Maintaining H&S records, logs, and general administration

The Health and Safety Assistant job would suit;

• A practical, hands-on approach to health and safety.

• Comfortable working in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

• Confident communicating with shop-floor teams.

• Well organised, with good attention to detail.

• Good all round administration skills.
