HGV Mechanic 

Hourly Rate: £18.00 - £22.00 per hour
OTE: £70,000 - £80,000+ per year
Hours: Monday – Friday rotating shifts:
Week 1: 06:00 – 14:30 | Week 2: 13:00 – 21:30

Earning Potential (OTE)

• Hourly Rate: £18.00 - £22.00 per hour
  
  
• Basic Salary: Circa £43,500 per year (based on 40-hour week)
  
  
• Overtime Rate: Paid at time-and-a-half (1.5x)
  
  
• Mobile Call-Outs: Additional earnings available for breakdown attendance on late shifts
  
  
• Very Realistic OTE: £70,000 - £80,000+ per year including overtime and call-out payments
  
  

Overview
We're looking for a skilled HGV Mechanic to join a well-respected commercial vehicle specialist in Burton-On-Trent. This role offers a rotating early/late shift pattern, with mobile call-out responsibilities on late shifts providing significant additional earning potential. For the right candidate, IRTEC and Class 1 licence training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and servicing of HGVs to industry standards.
  
  
• Prepare and present vehicles and trailers for MOT inspections.
  
  
• Diagnose and repair faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
  
  
• On late shifts, attend mobile call-outs and breakdowns to support customers roadside.
  
  
• Maintain workshop cleanliness and health & safety standards.
  
  
• Accurately complete all required paperwork.
  
  

What You'll Need

• Level 3 Qualification (City & Guilds / NVQ) in HGV Mechanics or equivalent, or substantial time-served experience.
  
  
• HGV licence is an advantage but not essential.
  
  
• Diagnostic experience is beneficial.
  
  
• A team player with a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance.
  
  
• Willingness to cover mobile call-out duties on late shifts.
