12-Month Contract – Outside IR35
Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite (Derby)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager – Fire and Gas Systems to support gas turbine installations, leading the specification, integration, compliance, and commissioning of fuel gas detection, oil mist detection, and fire detection/suppression systems within turbine enclosures and existing fire protection infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead requirements validation and technical specification for gas detection, oil mist detection, and fire detection systems.

• Conduct risk and hazard assessments (HAZOP, risk mitigation).

• Collaborate with enclosure design suppliers to optimise sensor placement and minimise stagnation zones.

• Oversee supplier selection, certification, installation, commissioning, and system validation.

• Ensure compliance with relevant standards (NFPA, IEC, ISO, ATEX).

• Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.

Experience & Skills

• 8–20 years’ experience in fire and gas safety systems within gas turbine power plants or similar environments.

• Strong expertise in gas detection technologies (IR, catalytic bead, electrochemical).

• Experience with fire detection and suppression systems (CO₂, FM-200, NOVEC 1230, water mist).

• In-depth knowledge of international safety standards and turbine fuel system compliance.

• Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional/integrated teams.

• Degree qualified (Mechanical, Chemical, Instrumentation or related Engineering discipline).

• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
