Job Description:
Walker Cole International is searching for an Intellectual Property (IP) officer to join a rapidly growing pharmaceutical organisation based in Leicester.
As the Intellectual Property (IP) Officer, you will support the Intellectual Property function in delivering strategic IP insights across international markets, helping to identify risks and opportunities that enable successful product development and launch within the generics space.
Your responsibilities as the Intellectual Property (IP) Officer will be:
- Support licensing and R&D projects through freedom-to-operate (FTO) assessments and patent landscape reviews
- Assess IP risks to inform product launch planning
- Provide input on trademark clearance and IP strategy
- Maintain and update internal IP tracking systems
- Monitor competitor patent activity, filings, and regulatory developments
- Identify strategic opportunities for portfolio expansion
- Support licensing discussions and due diligence activities
- Liaise with external counsel on oppositions, appeals, and litigation matters
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Commercial, Regulatory, R&D, and Business teams
To be a successful candidate for the Intellectual Property (IP) Officer role, you will have:
- Degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or a related scientific discipline
- 1–3 years’ experience in an IP-related role (in-house or private practice)
- Working knowledge of UK and EU patent and trademark processes
- Strong analytical and organisational skills
