Junior Mechanical Estimator – Ideal for a Plumber / Pipefitter Looking to Come Off the Tools

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established M&E Contractor based in Leicester who are looking to bring on a Junior Mechanical Estimator to join their growing team.

This role is ideal for a Mechanical tradesperson (Plumber, Pipefitter, Heating Engineer, HVAC Installer etc.) who is looking to come off the tools and progress into an office-based role within the building services sector.

You will work alongside experienced estimators and project managers, learning how to price and prepare tenders for a range of commercial and industrial mechanical projects.

The Role

• Assisting with preparation of mechanical tenders and estimates

• Reviewing drawings and specifications

• Helping to price mechanical packages including pipework, plumbing, heating and HVAC systems

• Obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations

• Supporting senior estimators with take-offs and cost breakdowns

• Liaising with project managers, suppliers and internal teams

The Ideal Candidate

• Background as a Mechanical tradesperson (Plumber, Pipefitter, Heating Engineer etc.)

• Looking to progress into estimating or project management

• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings (desirable)

• Good communication and organisational skills

• Basic computer skills and willingness to learn estimating software
