Childcare Social Worker - Kinship Team (Level 3) | Leicester City Council

Rate: £36 - £38 per hour (depending on experience)
Hours: Full-time, Monday-Thursday 8:30am-5:00pm, Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
Location: Leicester City Council - Office base available with hybrid/working from home options

Leicester City Council are seeking two Level 3 Qualified Childcare Social Workers to join the Kinship Team, responsible for undertaking full Kinship Assessments, including Fostering and Special Guardianship Order (SGO) assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete full Kinship Assessments in line with Fostering Regulations and statutory guidance.
• Use Form K to prepare and present high-quality assessments to Panel.
• Work to court timescales and deadlines for assessments and reports.
• Liaise with families, professionals, and legal representatives throughout the assessment process.
• Demonstrate understanding of the impact of trauma and therapeutic approaches in family-based care.

Requirements:

• Strong assessment and analytical skills.
• Experience of using Form K and presenting to Panel.
• Knowledge of legal frameworks, safeguarding procedures, and child welfare practice.
• Willingness to travel outside of the local authority area as part of assessment work.

Essential Requirements:

• Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years' post-qualifying experience within Children's Services
• Social Work England Registration
• Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
