APT Education is recruiting a committed KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a Coventry primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with children in Key Stage 1 (KS1) who have a range of special educational needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), non‑verbal communication, EAL (English as an Additional Language), and personal care requirements.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small‑group support for KS1 pupils with SEN needs
- Assist with personal care routines, communication strategies, and social development
- Adapt KS1 resources and activities to meet individual learning requirements
- Support non‑verbal and EAL learners with communication and inclusion
- Promote positive behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to track pupil progress
👤 Candidate Requirements
- UK primary school experience is essential
- Proven experience supporting pupils with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and EAL
- Strong understanding of KS1 curriculum and child development
- Empathetic, patient, and resilient approach to working with young children
- Enhanced DBS and references (APT Education will support with compliance)
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils of primary age and helping them thrive
