Laboratory Technician

Location: Waltham, Melton Mowbray LE14 4RT near Leicester/Nottingham (On-site, 5 days/week)
Contract Length: 6-month temporary contract
Hourly Rate: £12.76/hour
Start Date: ASAP (Immediate hire available)
Driving Licence Required: Yes (site is not accessible via public transport)

Imagine This (Job duties):

Hands-On Laboratory Work (90%)
Be at the heart of research trials, performing essential lab tasks including:

• Preparing flavour solutions, dietary supplements, and pet food samples
   

• Processing biological samples (e.g., saliva and faeces)
   

• Labelling and recording data using systems like LIMS, Excel, and XDL
   

• Following strict protocols and safety procedures for every trial
   

• Disposing of chemicals appropriately
   

• Supporting up to 8 concurrent trials weekly
   

Research Support and Collaboration (10%)

• Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to after-action reviews
   

• Liaise with scientists and researchers to support trial progress
   

• Assist in testing new lab methods and equipment during pilot studies

What You Need to Bring (Experience required):

• Approx. 1 year of lab experience in a scientific or industrial setting
   

• Alternatively: a recent graduate in a biological or chemical science degree with hands-on lab work
   

• A driving licence is essential due to the location
   

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and accuracy
   

• Comfortable working on repetitive but critical tasks in a team environment
   

• Flexible and adaptable — you may handle multiple techniques and tasks daily
   

• Confident with digital tools such as LIMS and Excel
   

• Experience with the ELISA technique (desirable but not essential)
