Interior Seating Lead Engineer – Automotive
Contract | Office-Based | Competitive Day Rate
An experienced Interior Seating Lead Engineer is required to support a premium automotive programme, delivering seating system design and release from concept through to production.
This role sits within Body Engineering / Interior Systems and requires strong ownership of automotive seating systems, including design, development, validation and engineering release.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead design and development of automotive seating systems and sub-systems
- Full Design & Release (D&R) responsibility from concept to sign-off (DV completion)
- Manage CAD design (CATIA V5 / V6 / 3DX)
- Deliver to cost, weight, quality and timing targets
- Coordinate suppliers and cross-functional teams
- Support APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, Control Plans
- Lead problem-solving using 8D and 5 Why methodologies
- Manage engineering change and release systems
Essential Experience:
- Proven background in automotive seating design
- Strong CATIA V5, CATIA V6 or 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) skills
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, Core Tools
- Design & Release within an automotive OEM or Tier 1
- Experience delivering through validation and sign-off
- Supplier management and programme delivery experience
Desirable:
- Premium or luxury vehicle programmes
- Seat safety systems (airbags, ISOFIX)
- Knowledge of global automotive regulations
