
Plant Operator
Altera Recruitment is in search of a skilled Plant Operator to join their clients operational team in Leicestershire. The position of a Plant Operator plays a vital role in maintaining the smooth flow of biomass fuel across the site, ensuring safe and efficient handling of materials within the fuel hall and surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities of a Plant Operator:
Safely operate loading shovels and other mobile plant machinery in accordance with site health, safety, and environmental standards.
Conduct and document daily pre-use checks, promptly reporting any defects or near-misses to site management.
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as greasing, cleaning, and refuelling of plant vehicles.
Manage biomass fuel levels and ensure the fuel hall, yard, and weighbridge areas remain clean and orderly.
Complete effective shift handovers and support the smooth transition of operations between shifts.
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience operating a loading shovel, supported by a recognised qualification (CPCS, NPORS, or equivalent).
Valid UK driving licence and access to personal transport.
Strong understanding of site safety, operational compliance, and environmental best practice.
Team-oriented approach with excellent communication and reliability.
Counterbalance forklift and telehandler experience is advantageous but not essential.
