Job Description:

Management Accountant, Oakham, LE15, Leicestershire.  £45,000 - £52,000

We are looking for an experienced Finance professional / Management Accountant / Finance Manager to lead financial operations for a small business unit within a multinational engineering group.

• Strategic role reporting directly into the MD, excellent opportunity to be a senior leader within an SME business.
• Stability and future growth – backed by a 70-year heritage and continued investment in UK operations, including a £3million production facility. 
• Salary and package level will be dependent on experience, we suspect £45,000 - £52,000 as a very rough guideline
• Oakham based offices, you could be located in Leicester, Oakham, Melton Mowbray or surrounding commutable areas.

Your background as a Management Accountant:

• Qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) preferred or part qualified looking to gain full qualification.
• Proven experience in a similar Finance Manager, Management Accountant, Financial Accountant roles. 
• SME mindset - this will work for a small business unit, whilst being a strategic role it will still have a ‘hands on’ operational balance
• Advanced Excel and financial systems experience
• Confident communicator, team leader, and self-starter.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Your responsibilities as the Management Accountant:

• Lead the preparation of monthly and annual financial accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and group guidelines.
• Deliver timely financial reporting including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Manage month-end processes, provisions, and journal entries.
• Produce management accounts and board-level financial reports.
• Oversee internal controls, financial systems, and compliance (VAT, HMRC, audits).
• Handle credit control, purchase ledger, and customer account management.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis across products and customers.
• Contribute to strategic planning, including financial modelling for international expansion and acquisitions.
• Manage payroll, insurance renewals, and liaise with external auditors and accountants.
