Management Accountant – Derby Area

Salary: Up to £52,000 (depending on experience)

My client, a leading food manufacturer, is looking for an experienced Management Accountant to join their team in the Derby area. This is a key role where you’ll take ownership of preparing, developing, and analysing essential financial information to support sound business decisions and sustainable growth.

You’ll produce accurate and timely Profit & Loss reports, strengthen financial controls, and provide valuable insights into performance. Acting as a trusted advisor, you’ll communicate financial data effectively across the business — translating numbers into meaningful actions.

This role combines strong technical accounting skills with commercial awareness, focusing on improving efficiency, reducing costs, and driving value throughout the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse weekly and monthly Profit & Loss accounts (P&L)

• Post journals and maintain accurate ledgers

• Complete bank reconciliations and nominal ledger reviews

• Manage VAT returns and ensure compliance reporting

• Oversee cash flow management and forecasting

• Prepare and monitor budgets and forecasts

• Support month-end and year-end close processes

• Produce insightful financial reports including variance and performance analysis

• Conduct product costing and margin analysis

• Develop financial models to support strategic planning

• Provide day-to-day support to the Financial Controller

• Work confidently with finance systems, particularly Navision

About You

• Proven experience in a Management Accountant role ideally within FMCG or manufacturing

• Strong background in preparing and analysing P&L accounts

• Ideally part-qualified or fully qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)

• Comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge at all levels

• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modelling)

• Experience in financial modelling is advantageous
