Management Accountant (Castle Donington, Derby)
£42,000 (DOE) | Permanent | On-site | Full-time (39 hrs) or Part-time (30 hrs) considered

Cherry Professional is working with Dynamic Aerospace Fabrication to recruit a Management Accountant to support the senior leadership team with insightful reporting, robust controls, and clear analysis to drive business performance improvements. This is a hands-on role for someone who can hit the ground running and take ownership of month-end and key financial processes, alongside payroll support.

The role
Working alongside an excellent Finance Assistant and closely with senior management, you’ll be responsible for preparing and analysing financial information, producing management accounts, and ensuring accurate reporting across the business. You’ll also support the payroll function by processing key inputs (timesheets, sickness, overtime) to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.

Key responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintain and administer general ledger codes to ensure accurate reporting
• Deliver detailed variance analysis (including job performance vs budgeted costs)
• Manage stock and WIP valuation activities
• Support statutory reporting (including submissions to bodies such as HMRC)
• Support the Head of Finance with ad-hoc reporting and analysis
• Administer and validate timesheets, investigate anomalies and liaise with line managers
• Collate sickness/overtime information, ensuring accuracy and timely submission
• Prepare payroll inputs and process pay-related paperwork for monthly cut-off
• Input and process payroll data in Sage 50 for the monthly pay run
• Calculate/post payroll deductions, reconcile employee deductions, and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain payroll records including updates such as salary increases
• Administer pension payments and changes

Skills & experience

• Part-qualified or fully qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) – both considered  as will be QBE
• Strong analytical ability with excellent Excel skills
• Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships at all levels
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Good understanding of accounting system controls and data manipulation for meaningful reporting
• Desirable systems exposure: Avante, Epicor 10, Sage Payroll (beneficial, not essential)

Hours, salary & benefits

• Full-time (39 hrs) or part-time (30 hrs) considered
• £40,000–£42,000 depending on experience (full-time equivalent)
• 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays
