Mechanical Craft Engineer

Salary: £32,000 – £38,000 depending on experience
Shift Allowance: 20% from day one

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Craft Engineer to join a major steel manufacturing operation with key sites producing high-quality steel for the construction, automotive, and packaging industries.

This is a hands-on role within a heavy industrial environment, supporting critical plant and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production.

The Role

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on mechanical plant and machinery

• Fault finding and repair of mechanical systems including gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, pumps, and rotating equipment

• Strip down, inspect, refurbish, and rebuild mechanical components

• Work from engineering drawings and specifications

• Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives

• Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance

Shift Pattern

• Alternating shifts: Morning, Afternoon, and Nights

About You

• Time-served mechanical apprenticeship or recognised mechanical qualification

• Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment (steel, metals, or similar preferred)

• Strong mechanical fault-finding and maintenance skills

• Flexible and willing to work rotating shift patterns
