
Mechanical Craft Engineer
Salary: £32,000 – £38,000 depending on experience
Shift Allowance: 20% from day one
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Craft Engineer to join a major steel manufacturing operation with key sites producing high-quality steel for the construction, automotive, and packaging industries.
This is a hands-on role within a heavy industrial environment, supporting critical plant and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production.
The Role
Carry out planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on mechanical plant and machinery
Fault finding and repair of mechanical systems including gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, pumps, and rotating equipment
Strip down, inspect, refurbish, and rebuild mechanical components
Work from engineering drawings and specifications
Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance
Shift Pattern
Alternating shifts: Morning, Afternoon, and Nights
About You
Time-served mechanical apprenticeship or recognised mechanical qualification
Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment (steel, metals, or similar preferred)
Strong mechanical fault-finding and maintenance skills
Flexible and willing to work rotating shift patterns
