Mechanical Draughtsperson

This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an individual possessing a mechanical engineering qualification and demonstrable design experience in a similar role. The position includes working from home for one day a week, and in total a 37.5 hour working week.

Due to sustained growth, a significant forward order workload and a continued commitment to be at the forefront of the industry, our client is now searching for a talented and motivated Mechanical Draughtsperson. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of innovative, creative and winning design packages in line with client key drivers, and project programs and budgets.

The Role

• Produce high quality manufacturing drawings based on inputs from the design team.
• Interpret design inputs and develop detailed CAD models in both 2D and 3D
• Work independently or as part of a team to develop new or existing products that meet the mechanical technical requirements of form, fit and function.
• Provide a professional mechanical engineering service to the business and so interface with customers and suppliers to ensure activities are completed to meet or improve program, cost and quality expectations.
• Liaising with external designers and in-house teams
• Comply with relevant industry standards, requirements and in-house processes
• Analyze and produce designs in the form of schematics, calculations, equipment selection and detailed drawings in a timely manner.  
• Checking drawings produced by others to ensure standards are met
• Detail checking of interfaces and fits
• Use IT packages effectively in the course of your daily activities (AutoCAD or Inventor etc)
• Issue drawings utilizing the company’s systems
• Interpret engineering drawings including vendor or supplier information
• Interpret and implement engineering specifications and standards
• Manage project timescales and achieve or improve deadlines
• Provide progress status reports to line management on a regular basis
• Help to achieve or improve company and customer objectives of program, cost and quality

The Person

• The successful candidate will possess a mechanical engineering qualification and demonstrable experience in a similar role
• Possess the ability to deliver real working solutions which balance the requirements of functionality, design integrity, manufacturability, serviceability and costs.
• Ability to create and understand technical drawings to satisfy customer requirements
• Proficiency in at least one AutoCAD design package
• A focus on building and maintaining client and supplier relationships.
• Strong organisational and communication skills to support project and company goals
• Experience of working in a fast-paced environment and delivering to challenging timescales
