About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Mechanical & Electrical Preventative Maintenance Engineer to join a busy metal waste recycling facility in Shepshed. This is a night-shift role, offering 40–45 hours per week, and plays a key role in keeping plant equipment operating efficiently and safely.

This temporary role offers the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems.

• Diagnose faults and repair machinery to minimise downtime.

• Respond to unplanned maintenance issues during night shifts.

• Maintain accurate records of completed work and report recurring issues.

• Collaborate with day-shift teams to ensure effective communication and handovers.

• Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.

Requirements

• Proven experience in both mechanical and electrical maintenance, ideally in an industrial or recycling environment.

• Recognised qualifications in mechanical and/or electrical engineering (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).

• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently on night shifts and manage workload efficiently.

• Flexible and reliable approach to tasks and responsibilities.

Desirable

• Experience working in a metal recycling or heavy industrial setting.

• Knowledge of PLCs and automated systems.
