The Role
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join a growing engineering team, supporting the design and development of bespoke engineered systems and associated mechanical assemblies. This is a hands-on design role, ideal for an engineer with strong SolidWorks experience and a practical, solutions-focused mindset.
You will be involved throughout the full product lifecycle — from concept and design through to manufacture and ongoing support — working closely with electrical engineers, production teams, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks
Produce detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation
Support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives
Work collaboratively with electrical engineers to integrate mechanical and electrical systems
Liaise with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
Assist with prototyping, testing, and design validation
Provide engineering support for existing products and customer-specific solutions
Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, quality, and safety requirements
Skills & Experience Required
Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
Commercial experience using SolidWorks in an engineering environment
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes
Experience producing detailed engineering drawings and documentation
Comfortable working on bespoke, low-volume engineered products
Strong problem-solving skills and high attention to detail
Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Desirable (but not essential)
Experience within power, industrial, or heavy engineering sectors
Knowledge of sheet metal, fabricated assemblies, and thermal management
Exposure to testing, commissioning, or site support activities
Understanding of engineering standards and regulatory compliance
