The Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join a growing engineering team, supporting the design and development of bespoke engineered systems and associated mechanical assemblies. This is a hands-on design role, ideal for an engineer with strong SolidWorks experience and a practical, solutions-focused mindset.

You will be involved throughout the full product lifecycle — from concept and design through to manufacture and ongoing support — working closely with electrical engineers, production teams, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks

• Produce detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation

• Support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives

• Work collaboratively with electrical engineers to integrate mechanical and electrical systems

• Liaise with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable

• Assist with prototyping, testing, and design validation

• Provide engineering support for existing products and customer-specific solutions

• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, quality, and safety requirements

Skills & Experience Required

• Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline

• Commercial experience using SolidWorks in an engineering environment

• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes

• Experience producing detailed engineering drawings and documentation

• Comfortable working on bespoke, low-volume engineered products

• Strong problem-solving skills and high attention to detail

• Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

Desirable (but not essential)

• Experience within power, industrial, or heavy engineering sectors

• Knowledge of sheet metal, fabricated assemblies, and thermal management

• Exposure to testing, commissioning, or site support activities

• Understanding of engineering standards and regulatory compliance
