Our client is looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for the mechanical assembly, installation, and maintenance of conveyor belts, automated machinery, and complex engineering systems both on-site and in the workshop.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, install, and align mechanical components for conveyor and automation systems.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical schematics.
- Carry out routine and preventive maintenance to minimise downtime and optimise machine performance.
- Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical systems and machinery.
- Collaborate with engineers and electricians to ensure smooth system integration.
- Participate in commissioning and testing of new installations.
- Adhere to health and safety standards and company protocols at all times.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter within automation, conveyors, or engineering systems.
- Strong hands-on mechanical assembly, fitting, and maintenance skills.
- Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and rotating equipment is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documents.
- Comfortable working on-site and travelling to customer locations when required.
- Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
Desirable:
- Experience within logistics, food processing, or materials handling environments.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems and control panels.
- Forklift, IPAF, or CSCS certifications are a plus.
