Mechanical Fitter – Bespoke Machinery Assembly
The Role
We’re recruiting a Mechanical Fitter to assemble bespoke printing presses and mechanical sub-assemblies in a workshop environment.
This is a hands-on role involving full machine builds from drawings and BOMs, with occasional on-site support when required.
Key Duties
Assemble complete bespoke machines and sub-assemblies using engineering drawings and BOMs
Build kits of parts accurately and methodically
Install and align mechanical components including:
Bearings
Gearboxes
Motors
Pulleys, couplings, belts, and transmission systems
Carry out fine-tolerance fitting using hand tools
Interpret and work from sub-assembly and general arrangement drawings
Use workshop equipment such as pillar drills and presses (turning/milling advantageous but not essential)
Safely lift components using slings and overhead cranes
Provide occasional on-site support for maintenance or installation
Maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping, and health & safety
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter / Machine Builder / Assembly Fitter
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
Good mechanical knowledge and practical fitting skills
Methodical approach with strong attention to detail
Comfortable working independently or as part of a team
Safety-conscious and reliable
Desirable (Not Essential)
Experience with bespoke machinery or automation
Slinging / crane experience
Background in machine build, printing equipment, or industrial machinery
