c£36,000 to £45,000 (depending on experience)

Are you ready to play a key role in keeping essential rail infrastructure moving?
We’re looking for a Skilled Mechanical Engineer / Fitter to join a high-performing maintenance team, working on a specialised rail fleet that provides track maintenance. The role will ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety.
Working Hours (Weekdays Only): Monday to Friday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
Includes a morning break and a lunch break.
What You’ll Be Doing - Carrying out annual maintenance, modifications, and repairs on specialist plant equipment
- Maintaining machinery in line with agreed maintenance plans
- Ensuring equipment is available and performing at optimum levels
- Completing servicing within required timeframes
- Monitoring and maintaining machine condition post-maintenance
- Ordering parts and equipment in a timely manner
- Maintaining high housekeeping standards within the depot (5S)
- Completing all maintenance documentation accurately and on time
- Supporting occasional field service repairs across various locations (lone working may be required)
What You’ll Bring - NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a mechanical, electrical, or maintenance engineering discipline
- Ideally time-served apprenticeship
- Experience within the railway industry (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Proven fault-finding and repair skills
- Basic IT skills (Microsoft systems)
- Understanding of calibration and plant operation
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to pass a medical
- Ability to pass a criminal record background check
