Night Care Assistant
Location: Derby
Client: Derby City Council
Contract Type: Temporary (3 months)
Hours: Full time (37 hours per week)
Salary: £12.22 per hour (PAYE) / £15.66 per hour (Umbrella)
About the Role
The Night Care Assistant will support young people during night hours within a residential care environment, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and comfort. The role involves monitoring, supporting, and responding to the needs of young people with varying disabilities and behavioural needs.
Key Responsibilities

• Provide supervision, control, and support to young people throughout the night.
• Maintain a safe and calm environment, responding appropriately to behaviours and needs.
• Assist with nighttime routines and any required personal care.
• Record observations and incidents in line with organisational procedures.
• Work effectively as part of a team to ensure consistent, high-quality care.

Experience & Knowledge

• Experience working with young people in a care, support, or educational setting.
• Knowledge of the needs of young people with a range of disabilities, including Autism.
• Understanding of moderate to severe challenging behaviour and appropriate intervention techniques.

Skills & Competencies

• Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with young people.
• Strong communication and de-escalation skills.
• Ability to remain calm and responsive in challenging situations.
• Reliable, observant, and able to work independently during night shifts.

Additional Requirements

• Willingness to work waking night shifts on a full-time basis.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
